More particularly, the present invention relates to an LED lamp comprising an LED array, a glass housing, a lens, a first connecting element for connecting the LED array to a power supply, a base connected to the power supply and a second connecting element for connecting the base to the glass housing.
In the prior art there is a variety of lamps in which a light emitting diode is used. Examples of these lamps are disclosed in the specifications WO-A-97/17113, WO-A-98/22609 and JP-A-8-50950. The glass housing, which is common to all the lamps, is located between the lens and the base. The glass housing is connected to the base by a screw or a rivet. A lamp of this kind is complicated to assemble.
An object of the present invention is to provide a light emitting diode lamp, the construction of which is easy to assemble.
According to the present invention the base and the glass housing are connected to each other via a plate. The plate has two pins, each pin being connected to the base and the glass housing. The two pins are joined by a soldering element. The assembly of the base and the glass housing is thus simple and quick. The plate serves as a spacer element. This prevents the LED array from touching the base.
The invention is also based on the following idea. In order to prevent the glass housing from being heated too much, the base is usually separated from the glass housing by a plate. This plate is connected to the base and the glass housing by a screw or a rivet. This prevents the glass housing from being heated too much. This is not the case when the base and the glass housing are joined to each other by a plate.Q:
